On May 17, 2009, PACC joined a reported 45,000 walkers at the AIDS Walk in Central Park. This NYC annual event is the largest of its kind and aims to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS and garner support for individuals, families, and communities impacted by the disease. Rochelle Felder, case manager at Gibb Mansion, was the facilitator of the PACC team and brought together staff, residents of Gibb, and supporters of PACC to make up a team of about 10 individuals. The AIDS Walk raised a total of $5.6 million in contributions, which was given to support the Gay Men’s Health Crisis, the world’s oldest HIV/AIDS service organization, and other related organizations.
